The Holtville High Bulldogs moved one step closer to securing the Class 1A-4A, Area 5 title with an overtime victory in Tallassee Thursday night.

‘Dogs down Tigers in overtime

The Bulldogs (2-1-1) on the year, defeated the homestanding Tigers 2-1 at Tallassee “Hot” O’Brien Stadium.
Colton Ankers (Tallassee) and Tyler Conn (Holtville) blasted shots past opposing keepers during regulation to send the game into extra time knotted at 1-1.
Neither team could punch a shot through after the first overtime period.
The gridlock, however, was broken early into the second overtime when Kenneth Segarra drove a kick past the Tallassee keeper at the 2:28 mark.
Holtville hosted Prattville Christian Friday and then the junior varsities will be in action Monday against Wetumpka at Boykin Field.
