Holtville finished the game a lot stronger than they started en route to Thursday’s 8-2 win over rival Marbury.

Holtville rallies late to defeat rival MHS

The Lady Bulldogs behind the arms of Dani Oates (junior) and Beth Garner (Chattahoochee Valley signee) — fell behind 1-0 to start the game.
The Marbury lead was short-lived, as Holtville took the lead in the bottom of the first.
Kara Wilson singled and the scored on a passed ball to tie the game. Kendall Cox singled and made her way to third on a pair of wild pitches.
Oats doubled to score the Northwest Florida signee and give the Lady Bulldogs a 2-1 lead.
Holtville plated a third run in the fourth and added three more in the bottom of the fifth.
Leading 3-2, Cox singled and scored on a passed ball. Chontanee Combs and Ragan Law drew free passes.
Garner drove an offering to the centerfield fence clearing the bases and putting Holtville on top 6-2.
Hannah Ray slapped the ball over the head of Marbury’s encroaching shortstop to drive home a run and then scored on a Cox sacrifice.
The Lady Bulldogs (varsity, junior varsity and junior high) are in action in Auburn as part of the Lady Tigers Invitational.
