Voice of Tigers to visit local Auburn ClubPublished 9:51am Wednesday, April 10, 2013
The Voice of the Auburn Tigers Rod Bramblett will be the keynote speaker April 23 when the Elmore County Auburn Club holds its spring meeting at Must Stop Cafe in Wetumpka.
Club members will get a chance to ask plenty of questions of Bramblett given it will be just a few days removed of Auburn’s A-Day game (April 20).
The meeting will feature a steak dinner. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., with dinner to follow at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $35 for each person.
Club president Kevin Taylor asks those who plan to attend to contact him at 334-567-7811 or Jay Collier at 334-567-8444.
Tickets should be purchased by April 16 to ensure an accurate head count.
“We are honored to have Rod join us and share with us some insight to ‘A New Day’ on the Plains,” Taylor said.
In addition to dinner with Bramblett, the club will also have various auction items for those in attendance to bid on. One of the items will be an autographed football from head football coach Gus Malzahn.
The club has also been holding a raffle for a mini Auburn football helmet autographed by the school’s three Heisman Trophy winners – Pat Sullivan, Bo Jackson and Cam Newton.
Tickets for the raffle are $5 and the drawing will be held at the close of the meeting April 23.
Tickets will continue to be on sale up until the drawing that night. Proceeds from the tickets sold will benefit the Elmore County Auburn Club Scholarship, which is awarded each year to an incoming Auburn freshman from Elmore County.
Taylor reminds Auburn alumni and friends alike that they do not have to be a member of the Auburn Alumni Association to be a member of the Elmore County Auburn Club.
“That has always been a misconception of the club,” he said. “Those who love Auburn and cheer for Auburn are members of our Elmore County Auburn Club, so our doors are always open to fellow Auburn fans.”
