Millbrook man dies after argument, stabbingPublished 4:00am Saturday, April 13, 2013
An argument between a man and a woman turned deadly early Friday morning when Millbrook police found a 26-year-old man stabbed in an apartment on Thornfield Road.
The man was transported to Baptist Medical Center in Prattville where he was later pronounced dead at 6:22 a.m., according to Millbrook Police Chief P.K. Johnson.
“According to a witness statement the two had been involved in a relationship that had recently become estranged,” Johnson said. “The two had been arguing prior to the assault. Alcohol appears to have been a factor.”
Joyden M. Woods, 21, of Millbrook was placed under arrest and later charged with murder.
She is being held in the Elmore County Jail awaiting bond to be set.
Johnson did not release the name of the victim pending notification of his family members.
This marks the second homicide in Millbrook in a week.
On April 5, William Grady Pitts, 54, of Mobile was shot to death in a business’s parking lot on the 3800 block of Alabama Highway 14.
The victim’s brother, Marion Ed Pitts Jr., 57, of Deatsville has been charged with murder.
