John Michael (Mike) Bonner, 53, of Slapout passed away Saturday, April 20, 2013.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. April 23 at Cain’s Chapel United Methodist Church Worship Center in Deatsville with the Rev. H.H. Ellis and the Rev. Suzy Beeson officiating. Interment will follow in Cain’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Ellison Funeral Home directing.
Mike is survived by his wife of 30 years Vicky Marler Bonner; three sons Jordan Grant Bonner, Jon David Bonner and James Michael Bonner; his mother Shirley Mooney Bonner (James Nobles); sister Melissa Bonner Wellander (Mark) and brother Mark Bonner (Julie).
Treasuring his memory are nieces and nephews Jared Farr Ordis (Brittany), Laura Ashton Ordis, Catherine Washburn Jackson, Robert Brandon Wellander (Morgan), Andrew Mark Wellander, Austin Marler, Ashley Whitfield (Santiago Velez), Aubrey Apperson, Cassie Marler (James Nicholson), Brianna Marler, great nieces and nephews Jace Jackson, Bayleigh Wellander, Carter Nicholson and Olivia Nicholson, mother-in-law Jane Vayda (Robert) and father-in-law David Marler (Bobbie), sister-in-law Jill Marler Apperson (Steve), brother-in-law Greg Marler (Carla).
He was preceded in death by his father John Hubert Bonner Jr.
Pallbearers will be Phil Singleton, Denson Holley, Marvin Cleveland, Rick Graves, Jerry Gray and Sam Gibbons.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. April 22 at Ellison Funeral Home.
He will lie in state one hour prior to services.
Mike, well known for his boat building abilities, had a passion for people. He cherished his family, friends and loved storytelling. He was an incredible light to all that knew him.
