The City of Wetumpka will observe the National Day of Prayer Thursday at noon in Gold Star Park.
“We will have area preachers pray for our country, city, state and families,” said Tiffany Robinson, city events coordinator. “There will also be special music provided by our senior center.
“Everyone is encouraged to attend.”
The City of Wetumpka has recognized the National Day of Prayer with an observance for more than 15 years.
On a national level, this is the 62nd annual National Day of Prayer as designated by legislation in 1952. But the observance was first proclaimed by the Continental Congress in 1775. The National Day of Prayer was officially established as the first Thursday in May in 1988.
