Lunch and Learn to explore house plantsPublished 8:59am Monday, May 6, 2013
The Central Alabama Master Gardeners Association will hold its next Lunch and Learn Wednesday from 12 to 1 p.m. at the Elmore County Extension Office in Wetumpka.
CAMGA member Phil Easter of Montgomery will share information on the pleasures and benefits of house plants. He will provide examples of a wide range of house plants, and discuss choosing a container, watering, fertilizing and moving houseplants outdoors for summer and indoors for winter. In addition, he will give examples of house plants that can help cleanse the atmosphere of homes and offices.
Attendees are invited to bring their own lunch. The session is free and beverages will be provided at no cost.
The first Lunch and Learn in Wetumpka was held in January and featured pruning techniques. In February, the attendance doubled to more than 30 when the subject was starting plants from seed.
The March program provided nearly 50 attendees with information on soil testing and how to make their own potting soil. April’s event highlighted raised bed gardening and home veggie gardens.
The series will continue on the second Wednesday of each month. Subjects for the year include plants, hydrangeas, harvesting and using herbs, growing garlic, recycling yard and kitchen waste, etc.
