Funeral service for Mrs. Mary Will Jarrell, 92, of Alexander City, will be at 2 p.m. May 30 at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. The Rev. Ronnie Litsey will officiate. Burial will follow in the Alexander City Cemetery with Radney Funeral Home directing.
The family will receive friends from 12:30-1 p.m. May 30 at Radney Funeral Home.
Mrs. Jarrell passed away on Monday, May 27, 2013, at Brown Nursing Home. She was born on May 14, 1921, in Clay County to Robert Tug Gay and Dora Cornilla Fargason Gay.
She was a member of River Road Baptist Church and had been a member of New Harmony Baptist Church in Equality for over 40 years.
She enjoyed yard work and growing flowers and was an avid reader.
She was an excellent cook and made wonderful baby biscuits and desserts.
Mrs. Mary was an excellent seamstress and loved all types of handiwork.
She is survived by her daughter, Shaaron J. McCain (Othell) of Alexander City; grandchildren, Eric McCain (Denise), Ross McCain (Alisha), Carrie Malish, and Karen Milstead (Roger); 11 great grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Hubert Daniel Jarrell; daughter, Jane Elizabeth Cochran; her parents; sister, Mildred Ivelyn Roden; and brothers, Lynn Chapman Gay and Theron Gay.
The family will accept flowers or memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
