Kaitlyn Sides first foray into All-Stars management proved to be successful as her 6U All-Stars handled Prattville in three games last weekend in Eclectic.

“I’m so proud of the way they played,” said Sides. “We won our first two games and then played the last game better than we did all weekend.”

The Wetumpka 6U All-Stars pulled ahead 22-21 in back-to-back wins over Prattville to clinch the Sub-District C championship and move onto another series with the future Lady Lions beginning Friday night in Prattville in the District 5 Tournament.

The two teams met one final time in Eclectic, sub-district, with Wetumpka run-ruling Prattville 24-13 in four innings.

Part of the squad’s success, Sides pointed out, was the support of her assistant coaches and the girls parents.

“I have great parents and the girls all like each other,” said Sides. “They are not just there for their daughters, they are there for the team and want to see us succeed.”

Wetumpka’s 18U squad, also won their sub-district tournament. Wetumpka’s 10U and 12U squads finished second while the 8U team finished third.

With the way the ASA sets up it’s rec league tournaments, Sub-district and District tournaments are tune-ups for the state tournament June 21-23 in Robertsdale.
