Forgive the bragging, but we’re very proudPublished 4:08am Wednesday, June 26, 2013
I spent the weekend attending the Alabama Press Association’s Annual Summer Convention at the beach. As usual, I welcomed a trip to the beach, even a work-related trip to the beach, but little did I know how great the weekend would be.
Every year, the Press Association recognizes the top newspapers in the state for excellence in editorial coverage and advertising. Our staff was awarded for Elmore County Living, The Wetumpka Herald and The Tallassee Tribune.
I am absolutely elated! I really didn’t expect too much going in to the convention this year. We have experienced a lot of transition over the past year and nothing makes me happier than to say we came out on top.
These awards are voted on by our peers in the newspaper industry and no one can be as critical as your peers. I am very proud of our staff and the hard work that goes into getting this newspaper in your hands every week. We take our jobs very seriously but have our share of fun and I think that is reflected well in our work. We strive for excellence in community and public service and work extremely hard to make sure we keep our readers informed.
Please, forgive me as I brag just a little, but WE WERE VOTED AS THE TOP NEWSPAPERS IN THE STATE!
Yes, we’ve won our share of these awards in the past and we are striving to win even more next year but this year the recognition was just a little bit sweeter.
Congratulations to our staff! You truly are the best in the business.
