•Eclectic United Methodist Church has a newly-appointed pastor, Michael James Lawler. He comes to Eclectic from Brundidge UMC.

•Cedarwood Community Church in Wetumpka will hold its monthly camp stew sale July 6, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. A large microwaveable container of stew is $8. •Hillside Baptist Church in Wetumpka will hold Colossal Coaster VBS July 8-12, from 6 to 8 p.m. Kids will learn that God han’t given them a spirit of fearfulness, but a power, love and sound judgment. Preregister by bemailing hillsidevbs2013@gmail.com.

•The Eclectic United Methodist Church Lunch Bunch will meet at Kowaliga Restaurant July 9 at 11:15 a.m.

•Wallsboro United Methodist Church will have an indoor yard sale July 13, starting at 6 a.m. There will be children and youth clothing, shoes, school supplies for back to school needs and other miscellaneous items. The church is located in Wallsboro, north of Wetumpka, at 11066 U.S. Highway 231.

•River Road Baptist Church, 239 Lower Tuskegee Road in Tallassee, will conduct Hay Days Vacation Bible School July 12-14 for children age two through sixth grade. Times – July 12, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.; July 13, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.; July 14, 5 to 7 p.m. If anyone needs a ride to VBS, call Pastor John Sparks at 334-531-9966.

•There will be a Night of Southern Gospel with Betty Jean Robinson July 13 at 6 p.m. at the South Alabama Congregational Holiness Campground, 2433 U.S. Highway 31 in Deatsville. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The event is free, but a love offering will be taken. For information, call 334-451-0059.

•Mt. Zion #3 Missionary Baptist Church in Eclectic invites everyone to homecoming and revival celebrations. The homecoming service will be July 14 at 2:30 p.m. Guest is Rev. Justin M. Freeman and the New Canaan Missionary Baptist Church of Camp Hill. Revival will be July 15-17 at 7 p.m. nightly. Guest for the week is Rev. Johnny McCray, pastor of First Baptist Church of Clio. On July 15, Chapel UMC Union #2, Mt. Canaan, Jerusalem, St. Mark, Oak Grove and Reeltown. On July 16, Flat Rock, First Baptist Elmore, Galilee, Mt. Zion Central, Mt. •First Baptist Church of Wetumpka is holding its annual Summer Monday nights series through July 22. A different guest speaker brings a message each week. The program begins at 6 p.m. Guests on July 8 will be the musical comedy duo of Bean and Bailey. Speaker on July 8 will be Dr. Mary Neal, orthopedic surgeon, avid outdoors person and author.

•Cedarwood Community Church, 10286 U.S. Highway 231 in Wetumpka will burn the church mortgage July 14 at 10 a.m. Joining in the celebration that morning will be the Cavaliers Quartet from Shelbyville, Tenn. •Rodgers Chapel Church in Wetumpka announces a Missionary and Church Choir Sponsored Bake Off to be held July 20, from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. Bakers will receive advertisement and a chance to win a $50 gift card. Attenders will have an opportunity to taste and purchase cake by the slice. Cake must be homemade. Entrants must be willing to donate their cake with a chance to win. Participants may bake an additional cake to sell whole – the donated cake will be sliced and wrapped for the community to purchase and enjoy. Judges will taste a slice of each cake donated to determine the winner. Second and third place cakes will be mentioned on the church Facebook page the day of the event. •The Elmore County Food Pantry’s third annual Benefit Gospel Singing will be held July 20 at 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Wetumpka. The evening will feature The Hopper Family and a Gaither-Style Choir composed of local talent. Tickets are available for purchase at the Elmore County Food Pantry (334-567-3232 or 334-467-6924), First Baptist Church (334-567-5191) and all area branches of River Bank & Trust and First Community Bank. All proceeds to benefit the Elmore County Food Pantry.

•Calvary Baptist Church, Wetumpka, will hold a Senior Adult Celebration July 23, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Pat Ozment, pastor, Deatsville, will preach; Carlos Lemus, Hispanic director for the Elmore Baptist Association, will offer music and mission testimony; and Laurie Harris, Rock Springs, will provide special music with the senior adult choir. Bring a sandwich for lunch – drinks, chips and desserts will be provided.

•Rushenville Baptist Church will hold a one-day Vacation Bible School July 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Colossal Coaster World is open to children ages three to sixth grade. Everyone is welcome. For more info, call 334-541-2418.

•Mulder Memorial United Methodist Church hosts a noon salad luncheon the third Thursday of each month from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Call 334-567-4225 for more information.

•Community Fellowshippers meet at Cain’s Chapel United Methodist Church every third Wednesday at 11 a.m. The gathering includes a devotion, program, prizes and a covered dish luncheon. Local pastors and families are encouraged to attend.

•Celebrate Recovery, which deals with life’s hurts, habits and hang-ups, holds meetings every Thursday at 6:15 p.m. at Santuck Baptist Church.

•Hope For Healing Grief Support Group meets the second Monday of each month at 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church Tallassee.

•Need a bus ride to church? Healing Waters Church of God in Eclectic offers bus rides to church for anyone who would like to attend, but does not have transportation. Call Steve Roberson at 334-252-1575 at least 24 hours in advance. Sunday services are at 9 a.m. (prayer), 10 a.m. (Sunday School), 11 a.m. (worship) and 6 p.m. (worship). Wednesday services are at 6 p.m. (prayer) and 7 p.m. (worship).

•River’s Edge Flea Market is open every Saturday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. at East Tallassee United Methodist Church. All vendors are welcome – new items, old items, crafts, youth groups, ball teams, baked goods, produce and food. Various booth cost available.
