William L. Bullard

William L. Bullard, 89, went home to be with The Lord on Monday, July 1, 2013.
He was born in Elmore County to William Penn Bullard and Bera Powell Bullard.
Visitation will be held 11 a.m.-noon July 5 at Ellison Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. July 5 at Santuck Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Sanders officiating and Ellison Funeral Home directing.
Bill was a graduate of Wetumpka High School and the University of Alabama.
He served as Engineer on B-24 Bomber during World War II. He was member of the 8th Air Force, the 448th Bomb Group.
He was retired Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Corrections with the State of Alabama. Prior to being appointed deputy commissioner he worked with the State of Alabama and Department of Corrections in numerous professions for almost 30 years, one of them being bodyguard to Gov. George C. Wallace.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Margaret Bullard.
He is survived by his God Child, Janice Massey (Curt) of Carriere, Miss., and God Grandchildren Jacquelyn Massey Lofton (Chuck) of Ocean Springs, Miss., and Amanda Massey Doucette (Darrill) of Carriere, Miss.; many first cousins of the Powell family and a special cousin and caregiver, Velma Gober (Jene) of Millbrook of the Bullard family.
Pallbearers will be Curt Massey, Darrill Doucette, Amanda Doucette, Chuck Lofton, Jene Gober and Jerry Blake.
Bill was a loyal member of Pierce Chapel United Methodist Church in Santuck.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent in his memory to Pierce Chapel United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 268, Wetumpka, AL 36092 or to the charity of your choice.
