The Wetumpka Depot Players’ most recent production debuted Thursday night. “Noises Off” hit the stage with constant action, slapstick humor and a veteran cast.
The show centers around the antics of a dysfunctional troupe of actors and their misadventures both on and off stage. The cast proceeds from a bumbling dress rehearsal to a disastrous closing night – and anything that can go wrong will.
Kim Mason, a Depot Players veteran, is director.
“Many theatres shy away from this show because of the complicated set and technical challenges, but the Depot Players have an amazing group of set builders who devoted weeks to making this set work in our space,” said Mason.
Described by the New York Post as “the funniest farce ever written,” remaining performance dates are July 13, 18-20 and 25-27 at 7:30 p.m., and July 21 at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $10 at the box office and $12 online. Box office hours are Wednesday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Ticket purchases may also be made by calling 334-868-1440 or visiting wetumpkadepot.com. The theatre is located at 300 South Main Street in Wetumpka.
