CAMGA Lunch and Learn to feature heirloom gardensPublished 2:26pm Saturday, August 17, 2013
Anyone who has thought of establishing a Southern heirloom garden in their landscape will want to attend the Central Alabama Master Gardeners Association September Lunch and Learn.
Jane Mobley of Wetumpka, a CAMGA member, will be the speaker and provide information on planning and planting a heirloom garden.
She will explain and give examples of such gardens and discuss the influences that led to this type of garden. In addition to answering the question “Why have a Southern heirloom garden today,” Mobley will describe the characteristics, discuss the plants that could be included and talk about how to go about developing one.
Lunch and Learn is a free program offered by CAMGA. Attendees can bring their own lunch. Beverages are provided at no charge.
The Lunch and Learn series has been held monthly in Wetumpka since January, and a variety of garden topics have been featured. The series attracts 30-50 attendees on the second Wednesday of each month.
The upcoming session will be held Sept. 11, from 12 to 1 p.m. For more information, call 334-567-6301 or visit the Extension Office on Queen Ann Road in Wetumpka.
