A Titus man drowned in Lake Jordan Aug. 15 according to Chief Deputy Ricky Lowery of the Elmore County Sheriff’s Department.
Sheriff’s deputies, assisted by marine police, responded to a call from a local boater at approximately 5:30 p.m. Thursday about a body in the lake.
Lowery said 43-year-old Byron Scott Kirkpatrick of Titus was found near Lakeland Drive.
“We’re just working it as an accidental drowning,” Lowery said, adding that no foul play is suspected.
Approximately 100 yards from the deceased, deputies found a small boat tied up to an island.
As far as they can tell, Lowery said, no one was with Kirkpatrick when he drowned. Kirkpatrick is the second victim of accidental drowning in Lake Jordan this summer. A 23-year-old Prattville man drowned after jumping off a rock in late June.
