Black History Museum to host seminar addressing wills, insurance, expenses

Wills, funeral expenses and life insurance are subjects many people put off discussing until a death occurs. It’s almost too late then.
Learn why wills are important and why estate planning is important for all income levels. Learn how to determine insurance needs and what’s involved in funeral costs.
Wetumpka Councilman Percy Gill (D2) and Omega Xi Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc will sponsor “Wills, Life Insurance and Funeral Expenses” Sept. 21 beginning at 10 a.m. at the Martin Luther King Recreation Center located on Lancaster Street near the city cemetery.
Lonnie A. Washington Sr., sponsored by the Alabama Baptist State Convention, will discuss estate planning, wills, trusts and probate. If time permits he will prepare free wills on site. A notary public will be present.
Eric Chappell, New York Life Insurance Company, will discuss the ins and outs of life insurance.
Yancey Mitchell, president of Hillside Mortuary, Wetumpka will talk about “When a Loved One Dies – What You Need to Know.” Funeral expenses and funeral arrangements can often catch family members unprepared.
In addition, the Elmore County Black History Museum will be open for tours. All programs and the tour will be free.
