EA stockpiles win, PCA loses to MA

The Edgewood Academy varsity and junior varsity volleyball teams swept the Crenshaw Christian Academy Lady Cougars, both in straight sets, on the road Sept. 30.
After the JV’s win, the varsity Lady Wildcats kept the train rolling, blowing out Crenshaw in the first set 25-9. The Cougars made some adjustments, but it wasn’t enough as Edgewood cruised to take the next two sets 25-20 and 25-19.
Senior middle hitter Kaylie Courson continued her hot play, serving up 4 aces and spiking 8 kills in the match. The Lady Wildcats also received good play from freshman Kevi Hansen, who had a team-high 7 aces, along with 2 digs and 2 kills.
The wins for both teams extended win streaks. Varsity now sports a three-match streak and the JV has won five consecutive.
Edgwood hosted region foe Chambers Academy Thursday.


The Montgomery Academy volleyball team secured the Class 2A, Area 8 regular season title and the right to host the area tournament after serving the Prattville Christian Lady Panthers a straight-set loss (25-12, 25-11, 25-14) Thursday.
PCA was kept off kilter all night by the Lady Eagles, who was led by juniors Lillian Roth and Jillian Tinglin with 12 and 10 kills respectively.
Lady Panther Bailey Mount carried her team in the loss with seven kills and three blocks. Leah Gibson added two aces.
MA senior setter Rachel Lee provided her hitters with passes much of the match, recording 15 assists.
PCA returns to the court Tuesday in Prattville for a tri-match with the Lady Lions and Autaugaville.
