Prattville Christian Lady Panthers wrapped up a super regional playoff spot with its Class 2A, Area 8 tournament first round victory over the Isabella Lady Mustangs (19-25, 25-21, 25-16, 25-18) at host site Montgomery Academy Monday.
With the win, PCA moved on to play MA for the area title, but would be handed a 2-25, 8-25, 6-25 straight-set loss.
Junior Lady Panthers Bailey Mount (14 kills, two aces) and Emily Stephenson (six aces, nine assists)were named to the All-Tournament team. Junior Nicole Hoots had 34 digs for the tourney.
PCA volleyball coach Kaylon Cantrell was proud of her team earning a berth in the playoffs.
“We started off a little slow in the first match against Isabella, but we came out fighting in the second match, and pushed our way to a nice victory,” Cantrell said. “The girls deserved it. This is what they’ve worked all season for, and I would’ve hated for the season to be over today.”
PCA will take the court Friday for AHSAA Super Regionals against Providence Christian School at 6:45 p.m. at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.
