Trick-or-treating in Wetumpka set for 5-8 p.m. ThursdayPublished 8:52am Monday, October 28, 2013
Halloween is Thursday, and local trick-or-treaters are reminded of the recommended times for visiting Wetumpka neighborhoods in search of candy and goodies.
Trick-or-treat in the city will be Oct. 31, from 5 to 8 p.m.
The Wetumpka Police Department’s tips for safe trick or treating include:
•Go trick or treating with an adult.
•Visit only people you know.
•Don’t go to any houses where lights are turned off.
•Accept treats at the door – ever go inside.
•Don’t eat anything without a parent or trusted adult checking it first.
•Stay on sidewalks when possible.
•Wear light or bright colored costumes.
•Place glow-in-the-dark strips on costumes to be visible to motorists.
•Carry a flashlight.
•Make sure you can see and hear any traffic around you.
•Stay as close to the edge of the road as possible. Do not walk down the middle of roadways when there are no sidewalks. Don’t cross the road between cars.
•Make sure your costume fits properly. Costumes that are too long or shoes that are too big can cause you to trip and fall.
•Use face makeup instead of masks, which can impair vision.
•Make sure costumes are flame-resistant.
