Valerie Ann Watkins Parker died in Pensacola, Fla. on Nov. 3, 2013 at the age of 53.

She was preceded in death by her father, John C. Watkins, formerly of Lake Jordan, Alabama. Valerie was a certified member of the Red Cross and an organ donor, a member of the Garden Club, the Book Club and the Methodist Church of Sunflower.

Valerie was sweet, kind and generous. She was a private person, but all sorts of people were drawn to her and were deeply enriched by her friendship. She was orderly but adventurous; practical but creative. She loved nature, books, beauty in any form, and – above all – her family.

A memorial service for her was held at the Methodist Church of Sunflower on Nov. 5. Memorial contributions may be sent to LeBonheur Children’s Hospital, 848 Adams Avenue, Memphis, Tenn. 38103.
