Millbrook man arrested after Thanksgiving stabbingPublished 8:49am Wednesday, December 4, 2013
After carving the turkey or the ham on Thanksgiving Day, one Millbrook man was still in the carving mood Thanksgiving night.
This time the item carved was of a human nature.
Elmore County Chief Deputy Ricky Lowery said a 33-year-old man was stabbed just after 7 p.m. outside of a residence on the 1500 block of Mercer Road in Elmore.
The man was stabbed by 52-year-old Michael James Albert Smith, who lived at the residence on Mercer Road.
“There was an argument and (Smith) stabbed the 33-year-old in the side near his stomach with a pocket knife,” Lowery said. “He stabbed him and then cut him pretty good.”
The victim left in his personal vehicle heading toward Millbrook, where authorities found the man and called emergency medical technicians.
The man was later transported to a hospital in Montgomery for treatment.
Smith, who was drunk according to the arrest report, was charged with felony first-degree assault.
He was released on a $10,000 bond Dec. 1.
In an unrelated incident, a 25-year-old Elmore woman was “hit with a stick, which caused her to fall into the fire” outside of an Elmore residence Friday night after she and another woman got into an argument, according to Lowery.
The 25-year-old was taken via a private vehicle to Baptist Hospital in Prattville to be treated for her burns.
Lowery said an arrest may be pending, but no charges have been filed as of yet.
