Full day of activities planned for Christmas on the Coosa

Wetumpka’s 30th annual Christmas on the Coosa will be held Saturday, with activities beginning at 7:45 a.m. The event will feature two parades, entertainment, fireworks, arts and crafts vendors, concessions and more.

The fifth annual Chil­dren’s Character Breakfast will kick off the day’s events. Children can meet some of their favorite super heroes and princesses and enjoy a pancake breakfast at the Wetumpka Civic Center from 7:45 to 9:30 a.m.

The ninth annual Christmast on the Coosa 12K and 5K runs will begin at 9 a.m. at 203 Orline St. Registration and check-in will be from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Runners will follow a course through historic downtown Wetumpka and surrounding neighborhoods. Race day fee is $30 and races are sponsored by the Trail of Legends Association in conjunction with the City of Wetumpka.

Numerous activities and displays will begin at 10 a.m., including a classic/antique car show in the boat ramp parking area of Gold Star Park, a quilt display in the city administrative building, food vendors directly behind the administrative building, arts and crafts booths in the lower parking area behind the administrative building, children’s games and entertainment in the park between the administrative
