Inmate John Earl Christian is considered an escapee from the Alexander City Community Based Facility. He is classified as a minimum custody inmate allowed to work outside the facility as a van driver transporting other inmates to and from work release locations.
On Dec. 12 at approximately 9:45 a.m., the Phenix City Police Department contacted the ADOC to inform that a van belonging to Alex City CBF had been abandoned on Crawford Road in Phenix City. The van was empty and the doors were locked. Christian could not be located during an ADOC search of the vicinity.
Christian is a white male, 6 feet tall, weighing 180 pounds, with brown hair, and brown eyes. He is sentenced out of Jefferson County on Nov. 19, 1993, to a life sentence for robbery.
