UPDATE: Eclectic man charged with arson in flooring store fire

Eclectic resident Edward Eugene Eller has been charged with second-degree arson related to the Jan. 27 fire at Eclectic Floor Covering on Kowaliga Road, according to the Alabama State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Eller, age 52, is currently in custody on separate charges at the Elmore County Jail. The fire was reported around 6:30 a.m. on Monday Jan. 27. Extensive damage was caused to the interior of the commercial building.

Eller was also faces one count of third-degree theft of property and two counts of second-degree domestic violence, according to the Elmore County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff’s deputies, who assisted the State Fire Marshal’s Office and Eclectic Police Department in the investigation, took Eller into custody on those charges Friday, according to ECSD Chief Deputy Ricky Lowery. Eller faces a combined bond of $160,000 on those charges. The fire marshal’s office did not yet know his bond amount on the arson charge.
