Players to host dinner fundraiser

The Wetumpka Depot Players will host a fundraiser March 3. The event, “Dinner and a Show – A Fantastick Evening” will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Wetumpka Depot Theatre and feature a meal and performance by the cast of “The Fantasticks.”

Kristy Meanor, Depot executive director, said the goal of the fundraiser is to offset the cost of the show traveling to the Southeastern Theatre Conference competition in Mobile – the nation’s largest theater convention.

The local show will represent the state in the regional contest after taking top honors at the state community theatre festival in October. “The Fantasticks” received numerous awards at that event.

“Participating at SETC is not only a great honor for the Depot Players, but it is also an investment in the continuation of our production of high quality community theatre,” said Meanor. “We return from festival with new ideas and a stronger company and all of that positive growth gets passed on to our patrons.”

Tickets for “Dinner and a Show” are $15 each.

“The Fantasticks” features some of the finest music in Broadway history and tells the story of a boy, a girl, their meddling fathers and the wall that divides them.

Tickets for the dinner theatre may be purchased by calling the Depot box office at 334-868-1440 or online at wetumpkadepot.com.
