Montevallo made three of its four shootout goals to take the area match victory at Holtville 6-5. Three of the Lady Bulldogs’ attempts did not find the net to seal it. Holtville (0-3, 0-1) travels to Wetumpka March 4.

The Lady Trojans shutout Wetumpka 7-0 in their non-area matchup Tuesday. Elina Seppala netted three scores to lead all scorers. The Lady Indians (2-2) open up area play Thursday at Prattville.

Edgewood Academy 6

Senior Hunter Glenn’s RBI single in the bottom of the seventh lifted Edgewood to the 6-5 walk-off victory Tuesday night. Glenn had two RBIs, two doubles on three hits and scored a run. The Wildcats (4-2) travel to Autauga Academy Thursday.

Chilton County 1

Wetumpka starting pitcher Cody Herring threw six innings and Lee Gunter secured the save in the Tribe’s 2-1 win at Chilton County. The Indians (3-5) travel to Opelika Thursday.

Stanhope Elmore 7, 13

Behind Tyler Matthews’ five-hit day, the Stanhope Elmore Mustangs swept the Lee Generals 7-6 and 13-3 in their doubleheader Tuesday. Pitchers Lane Parshall and Noah Eller picked up wins on the mound for SEHS. The Mustangs (4-3-1) plays at Marbury Thursday.

Holtville 3

Ross Chisum, Tyler Conn and John Sheppard each scored a goal for Holtville, as it beat Montevallo 3-1 in its area opener at home Tuesday. The Bulldogs (1-0-2, 1-0) will take on Robert E. Lee on the road on March 4.

Wetumpka 1
St. James 5

Alex Sideris scored Wetumpka’s lone goal in the team’s 5-1 losing effort to St. James Tuesday. The Indians shot 11 times, sending five into the frame. Wetumpka (2-2-1) travels to Prattville Thursday for its first area game.

SOFTBALL

Auburn 5
Wetumpka 9

A complete game from pitcher Lauren Lett (3-1) and four RBIs from third baseman Katelyn Carswell provided the firepower Wetumpka needed to defeat Auburn 9-5 at home Tuesday. Lett allowed seven hits and struck out five and Carswell went 2-for-3 at the plate. The Lady Indians (7-1) host Opelika Wednesday.

The Lady Tigers broke through early on PCA starting pitcher Morgan Burbage, scoring five runs in the first two innings en route to beating the Lady Panthers 6-1. Burbage led PCA offensively with two hits. The Panthers (1-3) return to the diamond March 4 at Alabama Christian.

Elmore County 15 F/3

In its home season opener, Elmore County exploded for 15 runs in just two trips to the plate as its routed Sidney Lanier 15-0 Tuesday. The Lady Panthers (1-0) will play Central-Coosa on the road Thursday.

The Auburn JV scored two runs on its lone hit on the night in the top of the third and that would be all it would to hold the Lady Indians at bay for the 2-1 win at Wetumpka Tuesday. The Tribe outhit Auburn, three to one. Wetumpka (7-2) hosts Opelika Wednesday.
