Stormy weather downs trees, causes floodingPublished 9:14am Monday, April 7, 2014
The storm system that entered the area yesterday and is still lingering led to some damage and adverse road conditions in Elmore County. As of 9 a.m. the following had been reported to the Elmore County Emergency Management Agency:
4:39 a.m. – Buyck Road at Jackson Trace Road – large oak tree across road.
4:50 a.m. – 8181 Lightwood Road at Union Congregational Church – large tree down in roadway.
5:15 a.m. – Tallassee Highway near Owens Road, Wetumpka – tree in roadway.
5:36 a.m. – 1543 Alabama Highway 143 (Main Street) in Millbr4ook – large tree fell on a vehicle causing minor injuries to one person (neck and knee). Second vehicle ran into the tree before police arrived (no injury). All four lanes were blocked.
6:07 a.m. – Fieldcrest Road, one mile off Titus Road – large tree in roadway.
6:12 a.m. – 6700 block of Titus Road – bridge holding water.
7 a.m. – Jug Factory Road between Owens Road and Marshall Road in Redland – road closed due to flash flooding.
