ECLECTIC, Ala. – Elmore County won its second Class 4A, Area 6 game in as many days as it scored early and often in a 16-0 route of Dallas County Wednesday.
After sneaking past area rival Holtville 3-2 on just four hits Tuesday, the Lady Panthers, who won its 13th straight game, collected 10 hits off sophomore Lady Hornet pitcher Tori Hatfield in three innings. Senior third baseman Olivia Royal led the way, going 3-for-4 with two triples, three RBIs and two runs. Ashley Robert went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs.
Elmore County’s eager offense escalated the lead as it scored 10 runs off six Dallas County errors, with the majority coming in an 11-run second inning.
Senior Lady Panther pitcher Chelsea Fomby (16-1) prevented Dallas County from any offensive rhythm, giving up just two hits and striking out four in the win.
The victory keeps Elmore County at the top of the Area 6 standing at 3-0. For the Lady Hornets, the loss drops its record to 0-3.
