ESPN ranks Wetumpka’s Kennedy inside top 100Published 2:24pm Wednesday, April 16, 2014
Wetumpka offensive lineman Brandon Kennedy debuted in the top 100 college prospects on the ESPN 300 List released Wednesday on their recruiting web site.
The six-foot-three, 285-pound rising senior comes in at No. 98 and is now rated a four-star prospect with a grade of 83, which for offensive linemen calculates initial quickness, run and pass blocking, hands, strength and explosiveness.
Just two weeks after receiving and accepting an invitation from ESPN to play in the 2015 Under Armour All America Game in Orlando, Fla. in January, the Wetumpka-native now ranks as the seventh-best lineman graduating next year, according to the list. Kennedy is listed among the top five prospects overall in the state of Alabama, coming in behind Madison Academy running back and Auburn University commit Kerryon Johnson (No. 23), Shades Valley defensive tackle Daron Payne (No. 35), Charles Henderson linebacker Richard McBryde (No. 46), Central-Tuscaloosa offensive lineman and University of Alabama commit Lester Cotton (No. 79).
The lineman still boasts 11 athletic scholarship offers, headlined by the Southeastern Conference’s Missouri and American Conference’s Cincinnati, as well as from in-state schools Troy, UAB and Jacksonville State.
