Wetumpka Relay for Life to be held SaturdayPublished 4:53pm Wednesday, April 23, 2014
Wetumpka’s 20th annual Relay for Life will kick off at noon Saturday at Hohenberg Field. Participating teams armed with tents and chairs will set up camp around the perimeter of the field for the event.
The sites will serve as home bases for Relay participants as they take turns walking a luminary-lined oval, playing games and participating in contests. The event will mark the culmination of this year’s campaign to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. Activities, which will continue until midnight will also include honoring cancer survivors and remembering those who didn’t survive the disease.
This year’s goal is $90,000. All proceeds from Relay for Life benefit the American Cancer Society and aid in its battle against cancer.
It isn’t too late to contribute to the cause. Everyone is encouraged to donate to a team or to the overall Wetumpka Relay effort.
There are also still opportunities to participate in various fundraisers.
