Keith Otis Taunton

Keith Otis Taunton, a resident of Montgomery, left this earth for Heaven on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at the age of 57.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. May 28 at Gassett Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. May 29 at the Gassett Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Allen Newton and Pastor Vaughn Stafford officiating. Interment will follow at Pine View Memorial Gardens with Gassett Funeral Home directing.

Keith is survived by his wife of 36 years, Judy Chandler Taunton; daughter, Ariel Taunton; brothers, Greg (Jeanne) Taunton and Gary Taunton; sister, Renee Taunton Taylor; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Otis and Alice Taunton; nephew, Justin Taunton; and mother-in-law, Sarah Chandler.

Pallbearers will be Gary Taunton, Brad Taunton, Ethan Taunton, Zak Taylor, David Wilmert and Michael West.

Flowers are welcomed or memorial contributions may be made to the St. James United Methodist Church Imagine Fund, 9045 Vaughn Road, Montgomery, AL 36117.

Keith was a devoted and loving husband and father. He excelled at Robert E. Lee High School serving as Drum Major and graduating in 1974.

Following graduation from Lee, he attended Auburn University graduating in 1978 with a degree in Communications.

Throughout his life, Keith remained an avid supporter of all things Auburn.

In 1985 he began a career at The Longshore Group cultivating a career of 20 years in which he retired in 2005 as a co-owner. During his tenure at The Longshore Group, Keith fostered many meaningful and family oriented relationships.
