Endorsements for Tuesday’s Primary election

Published 9:36am Saturday, May 31, 2014

Our goal with the following endorsements is not to tell you how to vote. After talking with the candidates concerning their qualifications and stances on key issues, we’d like to offer this as a guide for those who have not decided who will get their vote.

We are simply sharing our opinion after speaking to the candidates, studying the issues and writing stories about the upcoming election. We encourage all voters to make up their own minds. The most important thing to do is to make your voice heard at the polls by voting on Tuesday, June 3. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Here are Elmore County Weekend’s endorsements for the Republican primary:

Governor: Robert Bentley

Lt. Governor: Kay Ivey

State Senator, District 30: Harris Garner

Secretary of State: Reese McKinney

State Auditor: Adam Thompson

District Court Judge, Place No. 1: Patrick Pinkston

Elmore County Coroner: Brad Linville

Elmore County Board of Education, Place No. 1:

Walker Allen-Phillips

Elmore County Board of Education, Place No. 6:

Kitty Graham or Lynn Weldon

We also encourage you to fill out a sample ballot and take it with you when you head into the polls. There are numerous races to vote on, and we want our readers to be as informed as possible when it comes time to make their voices heard.

Contact the County Board of Registrars at 334-567-1150 if you have a question about your polling place.
