Moonshine still found in TitusPublished 9:34am Saturday, May 31, 2014
The Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board announced its Moonshine Task Force confiscated three more stills in the past week.
One of those stills was located Monday in the Titus community near Mini-Knight Road.
The ABC Board said the still was discovered through tips given from area citizens.
Since the Moonshine Task Force was created in October 2013 there have been 20 stills and 256 barrels of mash destroyed across the state.
Another still, which was discovered on Tuesday, was located in the Stills Crossroads community. ABC Board officials said this marked the second still found in this rural Bullock County community.
Another still was found at an Ashford residence on May 17.
Investigators discovered a 55-gallon stainless steel cooker with “nearly-completed” shine.
A 36-year-old man, whose identity has not been released, was arrested and charged with possession of prohibited beverages and marijuana.
ABC Board officials ask residents if they have any information of any other illegal activity, such as moonshine stills, to call the ABC Hotline at 1-800-327-7341.
