Indians adding 1,200 seat concert venuePublished 4:01am Saturday, July 5, 2014
Work will begin soon to remodel and develop a concert venue and banquet hall next to Wind Creek Wetumpka Casino and Hotel, according to its general manager Cody Williamson.
As a concert venue, the enclosed hall will be able to seat 1,200 people. The venue is about half the capacity of the amphitheater at Wind Creek Atmore.
“We are hoping to bring in some pretty big acts as well as highlight some of the local acts,” Williamson said.
Bids for the remodeling of the building next to the casino are expected to go out any day with the hopes of Wind Creek Wetumpka hosting its first concert around Thanksgiving.
While work on the building gets under way, entertainment director John Gower has already been working to put together a concert lineup for the remainder of the year.
“Our vision is to have a concert every two weeks,” Williamson said. “We may have some small and medium-sized acts and then some really big shows during the year.”
As a banquet hall, the venue will be able to seat more than 600 people comfortably.
“There is a full service kitchen in the hall so you could have a large or even a small function inside and not have to worry about the weather,” Williamson said.
