A Saturday night dispute on Sims Avenue left a little more space between an already separated husband and wife after she allegedly ran over the man repeatedly with a vehicle.

According to Tallassee Police Department Investigator Jason Gray, Angela Edwards, 40, of Eclectic, was arrested and charged with first-degree domestic violence. If convicted of that charge, she could be sentenced to five or more years in prison.

As of Wednesday morning, she was still in custody at the Tallapoosa County Jail with a $50,000 bond.

“Officers were called out because a subject had been run over by a vehicle about 10:30 p.m. July 26,” said Gray.

Investigators said John Reynolds, 44, had been struck several times by a Toyota Camry driven by Angela Reynolds. He was found, severely injured and was transported to Baptist South in Montgomery.

“The two were still legally married but were separated,” said Gray.

TPD Investigator M. Wright took the lead, according to Gray, and through his investigation it was determined that the two were still legally married despite living in different zip codes.

“Apparently she was upset that he had been drinking,” said Gray. “Our interviews determined that there had been nothing else to prompt this other than him being intoxicated. According to witnesses we interviewed, they’d had domestic problems in the past.”

Gray added that through the investigation Wright was able to determine: “Angela Edwards ran him over intentionally with a want to cause injury.”

“She ran him over several times,” said Gray. “Alcohol was related in the incident.”

Investigators said Reynolds is still in the hospital.
