Concert tour brings Meuse home to Alabama

It was a rowdy, but bittersweet homecoming for Slapout’s Jess Meuse Saturday night.

Meuse along with eight other finalists of the reality TV show “American Idol”  performed live in front of a near capacity crowd in the BJCC Concert Hall in Birmingham.

It was one of 41 shows for “Idol” finalists during a three-month tour which wraps up at the end of August.

Saturday marked the first time for most of her Elmore County friends and fans to see Meuse live since the show.

Saturday night marked the first time Angela Isbell  had seen her best friend and former UAB classmate perform on stage since seeing her live in Los Angeles almost two months ago.

“Seeing Jess play on Saturday was surreal. When she did her first solo song, I teared up,” Isbell said. “It’s been a long, difficult road to get to where she is, and to finally see her there blew my mind.”

Meuse appeared in a variety of the numbers.

She and fellow Alabama Idol finalist C.J. Harris of Northport sang a duet of “Cruise” by Florida Georgia Line.

Meuse was spotlighted in two of the songs she performed on “Idol” during the second half of the concert.

She sang “You and I” by Lady Gaga and “Pumped Up Kicks” by Foster the People.

“I just want to say thank you so much to all of my wonderful friends and family who came to the BJCC ‘Idol’ show this past Saturday,” Meuse posted on her Facebook page. “It was bittersweet for me, but it means so much to know I have your love and support. Words can’t express how much happiness it brings me to know my music is doing some good and bringing people together.”
