ECHS grad part of Huntingdon show

Huntingdon College’s upcoming performance of “Footloose: The Musical” will have a bit of Elmore County flavor. Jennifer Galvin, a 2007 graduate of Elmore County High School, is one of the cast members. Galvin is a freshman at Huntingdon majoring in biology/cell biology.

The production will be staged at the Davis Theater in Montgomery Feb. 16 at 7:30 p.m., and will also be performed Feb. 21-23 at St. James School Performing Arts Building in Montgomery.

The musical is based on the popular feature film of the same name starring Kevin Bacon.

The show is directed by Margie Benson, who has directed and produced high school, community and professional theatre for 25 years in Alabama.

Among her productions are “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” in Winston County; “Big River” and “Always, Patsy Cline” for Flowers Auditorium in Ozark; “Conecuh People” for the town of Union Springs; “Come Home, It’s Supper Time” in Brundidge; and more than 20 productions for Carroll High School in Ozark, where she taught art and musical theatre for 30 years.
