The Indians (12-5) parlayed a 7-run fourth inning into a 9-2 win over 6A Area 6 opponent Jeff Davis Tuesday afternoon at Bazemore Field. After three scoreless innings, Wetumpka exploded into the lead.

Brett Roney led off the rally, drawing a walk, and Kendall Lacey followed up with a single. A combination of WHS hits and JD errors sent Indians runners to the plate one after the other.

Roney (4-0), Wetumpka’s starting pitcher, recorded the win on the mound. He struck out 11 in six innings and allowed two hits and two runs. Randy Kennessey (4-1) got the save, coming in for the seventh and striking out one of three batters faced.

WHS hitters were Reggie Golden (2-for-4 with a double and 2 RBIs), Courtney Lewis (1-for-2 with 1 RBI and 2 runs), Nathan Knight (1-for-3 with a double and 2 runs), Ikeem Means (1-for-3, 1 run) and Lacey (1-for-3). Kejuan Riley had an RBI and scored once, and Josh Farris also had an RBI. Roney, Clint Martin and Shelbi Nobles each scored a run.

Wetumpka was scheduled to play a doubleheader Friday against Lanier at Paterson Field in Montgomery, a twinbill against Stanhope Saturday in Millbrook and a doubleheader against LAMP Monday at Paterson Field.
