Kathy Holt has announced her intention to seek office as District 3 Councilwoman for the City of Wetumpka.

Wetumpka has been Holt’s home for most of her life. She is actively in-volved in numerous civic and community activities, and is a member of the Elmore County Historical Society, vice chairman for the Elmore County Republican Committee, member of the Republican State Executive Committee; and a member of First Baptist Church.

She attended Auburn University and is a graduate of Faulkner University, where she received a degree in Business Administration.

Holt has more than 33 years of service with the State of Alabama. During that time she has held positions with the Alabama Department of Corrections, State Finance Department, Alabama State Department of Education, the Attorney General’s Office and the Governor’s Office.

In the Governor’s Office Legal Division she was responsible for extraditions. As director of Central Records Division of the Alabama Department of Corrections, she is the interstate agreement on detainers administrator, over NCIC operations, releases, paroles, interstate compacts and international treaties for all Ala-bama inmates.

Her experience with the State of Alabama’s infrastructure will provide her with the tools she will need to help strengthen the city’s infrastructure. She plans to use her well-rounded work experience with finance, education, and law enforcement to enhance Wetumpka’s economic growth.

“Wetumpka is a very historical community, rich with people with initiative and skills ready to take on this new growth,” she said.

Holt plans to enhance the education system, which will encourage families to stay in or come to the City of Wetumpka to raise and educate their families. She will also promote more support for city law enforcement.

“Creating a stronger infrastructure and promoting economic growth are essential for making Wetumpka the better place to live,” she said. “But without a community supported law enforcement and progressive education system it will not be a complete success. I will work hard to insure the success of my plans if elected as District 3 Councilwoman.”
