Russell Lands’ “Showcase of Lake Homes” will highlight the lake lifestyle for two consecutive weekends. Home tours and family-friendly activities are planned for July 19-20 and 26-27 and will feature homes in Russell Lands’ two newest luxury waterfront communities “ the Ridge and Glynmere.
Other Lake Martin weekend events will include celebrity chef demonstrations, water activities, live entertainment and more.
“With the rise of gas prices, Alabamians are looking for fun ways to enjoy the summer without having to travel great distances,” said Steve Arnberg, vice president for Russell Lands Real Estate. “Lake Martin offers families endless fun in a true lake lifestyle setting. Alabamians can bring their family, tour the homes and participate in two full weekends of packed entertainment.”
Special events will highlight the lifestyle, shopping and dining opportunities that might normally be experienced in a Russell Lands development, including:
•An authentic chuck wagon cooking demonstration by nationally acclaimed professional chuck wagon cooks Stanley and Linda Ingram at The Russell Lands Discovery Center (July 19 - 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.)
•Wine tasting with Rick Little of V. Richards (July 19 - 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Arnberg said the communities at Lake Martin were built for vacation and retirement home dwellers looking for a lakeside escape with upscale amenities.
“We are rebuilding the true meaning of a lake lifestyle,” said Arnberg. “So much of that purity has been lost at other lakes in the region. At Lake Martin, we pride ourselves on preserving the lake’s natural environment and beauty. All development must protect the land and protect the water. You won’t find this anywhere else in the Southeast.”
A labyrinth of interconnected parks and trails weave throughout the property, with miles of wooded walking trails, private outdoor nooks, fishing piers, convenient water access and a lakeside beach with designated picnic area. Boating enthusiasts can enjoy full-service marinas with wet-slip boat storage, dry-stack boat storage, gas pumps, a state-of-the-art service center, and an on-site Sea Ray dealer.
The Ridge is Russell Lands’ most ambitious lakefront community. Residents enjoy a variety of amenities, including The Ridge Club, a world class swim-tennis-fitness facility, an impressive lakefront marina, nature trails, waterfront parks and gated security.
The tour will include waterfront property as well as interior properties that have easy water access through marinas or dedicated docks.
Located within the gates of Willow Point and adjacent to the Willow Point Golf and Country Club, the homes of Glynmere feature classic craftsman architecture. The neighborhood is limited to 42 properties, with 32 homes already completed. Homeowners have access to a beach, pool, clubhouse, walking trails, playground, professional grounds maintenance and a dedicated boat-slip.
A recent addition to the property is the Russell Crossroads development, this year’s showcase headquarters, which is being built as the creation of a town center. It provides extensive retail, dining and cultural opportunities, while being true to the rustic nature of lake life.
“This will not be a typical strip center. All of the architecture is inspired by early 20th century architecture found in this region at the time of Lake Martin’s creation,” said Arnberg.
