The Millbrook Parks and Recreation Department is starting Tunes on the Green, a series of free outdoor concerts, this month.
According to Millbrook Parks and Recreation Department administrative assistant Chelsea Crawford, local bands will perform starting at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays at Village Green Park.
“We’re trying to make something for people to get out and have fun this summer,” Crawford said.
The first concert will be held June 13 and feature Shackleford Lane. Jimbo Jones and Larry Hawkins will perform June 27. Mortar Creek Redemption Company will play July 11 and Rob Thornhill will perform July 25.
“(The concerts are) family friendly and it’s a thing to get out and do and hear local musicians and maybe you’ll find somebody new you’ll like,” Crawford said.
The events will feature food vendors; glass and alcoholic beverages are not permitted, according to Crawford. Coolers are permitted.
Crawford said the department hopes 100 to 150 people will attend each session.
“It showcases one of our biggest parks and it lets people know the city of Millbrook does have family friendly events for free that you can come out and enjoy,” Crawford said.
