Four men are in jail and two others were in the hospital with gunshot wounds connected with a dispute over who was paying for whom at a Montgomery car show Sunday.
Sam Pritchett, Eddie Weldon and Brian Boykin traveled to Montgomery from Boykin’s Lake Eagle Nest Drive home to attend the event, according to Elmore County Sheriff Bill Franklin.
“From what we understand Sam was supposed to pay (Eddie and Brian’s) way in. Only he didn’t pay,” Franklin said.
After returning to Boykin’s home, the three men got into an argument over the money.
Then a fight ensued, according to Franklin.
Pritchett left the residence only to return with an assault rifle and three men.
“When Sam gets back, they continue to argue over the money,” Franklin said. “Then Sam shoots Eddie in the knee and then shoots Brian in the hip.”
Franklin then said one of the wives of the two men who were shot ran at Pritchett, and he took the butt of the rifle and hit her in the head.
Pritchett later got into a car with three other men – Mario Butler, 18, Jamario Butler, 18, and Martavis Butler, 23 – and drove off.
Weldon got into his vehicle and chased Pritchett from Lake Eagle Nest Drive onto Georgia Road. At some point, Franklin said, Weldon hit the car Pritchett was in to force it off the road.
“The boys in the vehicle with Sam get out and start to beat on Weldon with bricks,” he said.
Pritchett has been arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree assault and one count of second-degree assault.
The three Butler men — all of Tallassee – have been arrested and charged with one count each of first-degree and second-degree assault. Franklin said the investigation is ongoing and more charges are likely.
Weldon and Boykin were treated and later released from Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery.
