The Fyffe Red Devils rolled to an insurmountable 42-point lead in the opening half and cruised to a 56-7 victory over Reeltown to claim their second straight Class 2A state championship on Friday.

As preparation continued for another week of the NFL season last week, I saw a quote from Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield that rubbed me the wrong way. I’m not sure what exactly he meant by it but it didn’t the attention it should have gotten and it became a joke on ESPN talk shows.

Despite scoring in the 40s in both its games this week, Elmore County’s boys basketball team couldn’t hold off its opponents defensively. The Panthers suffered a 56-43 loss against Pike Road last Tuesday and were defeated by Loachapoka, 56-42, on Friday night.
