Cocaine, cash, handguns, ammunition and prescription drugs were seized early Friday morning in the Sandtown community of Millbrook.
Three Millbrook people and one Montgomery man were arrested in the bust.
Agents of the Central Alabama Drug Task Force, with assistance from the Elmore County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Unit, executed two search warrants in the raid.
The warrants were the result of an investigation which started more than six months ago as a result of information developed through the Wetumpka Police Department.
Those arrested were:
•Freddie Parker Jr. of Millbrook, charged with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.
•Leonard Long of Millbrook, charged with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
•Melissa Faye Long of Millbrook, charged with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
•Phillip Kirk Pelham of Montgomery, charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
In the bust, agents located approximately 14 grams of cocaine, 98 Lortabs, approximately $5000 cash, two handguns and several hundred rounds of ammunition.
Wetumpka Police Chief Celia Dixon said she is proud of her department’s involvement in the task force and the impact the CADTF makes in reducing drug-related crime.
The Central Alabama Drug Task Force is a multi-jurisdictional drug and violent crime task force that was formed in 1989. In 2006 the CADTF began working only in Elmore County due to budget constraints.
In the more than two decades of its existence, the task force has seized millions of dollars of drug proceeds and illegal drugs. It has also been responsible for hundreds of drug traffickers and violent felons being sent to both state and federal prisons.
Agencies that make up the CADTF are the Elmore County Sheriff’s Office, the 19th Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office, the Poarch Creek Tribal Police and the Wetumpka Police Department.
