The Wetumpka wrestling team lost just five bouts in four duals matches as it eased to the Class 6A Region 2 title last Thursday. Wetumpka racked up at least 70 points in all four matches to secure a spot in this week’s round of 16 of the state duals tournament.

No matter what happened last season, both Stanhope Elmore basketball teams knew they would have to find a way to replace large senior classes before the 2019-20 seasons. After seeing those seniors be the key to success, it became clear the challenge was not going to be easy.

Stanhope Elmore coach Brian Bradford is hoping his team’s final football game of the regular season serves as more than a time to honor the seniors. The Mustangs are hosting Greenville Friday night as both teams prepare for their first-round playoff matchups next week.

There was very little separating Stanhope Elmore and Carver-Montgomery for most of Friday’s super regional match in Montgomery. However, a handful of scoring runs from the Rams turned the momentum and Carver turned that into a three-set volleyball sweep to eliminate the Mustangs.
