A man Tallassee police charged two years ago with the shooting death of his son-in-law has reportedly been harassing women around Elmore County and “trying to get them to come home with them,” Eclectic police Chief Robert Head said.
Perhaps not surprisingly, Eclectic police would like to have a chat with 59-year-old Michael Foster about that.
“We just want to talk to him,” Head told The Observer Monday. “Just to see if can nip it in the bud.”
Foster was reported to be harassing women, asking them to come home with him, and otherwise unsettling women at random in a number of area businesses. Head asked that anyone who encounters Foster to call the EPD or other local law enforcement.
Foster was not indicted on the October 2012 shooting death of 21-year-old Christian Kyle Adkins. At the time, Tallassee police said Foster insisted it was only in self defense that he pulled a gun and shot his son-in-law in the chest. Adkins had come to the Griffith Street home in Tallassee to try and break up a domestic disturbance between Foster and his then-wife.
Spokesperson Jenny Hamilton of the 19th Circuit District Attorney’s Office confirmed that Foster was arrested and charged with Adkins’ murder, but the grand jury did not return an indictment. Hamilton said she could not provide further information because grand jury proceedings are secret.
But two years later, Foster has been reported in a number of Elmore County businesses, including D&R Kwik Stop in Eclectic and Walmart locations in Wetumpka and Tallassee. Numerous female residents have posted on Facebook that he harassed them.
According to one post, Foster asked a female resident “where I live and told me he could get me a job at the casino.”
“Don’t talk to him,” she posted. “He was tossed out by Walmart management, but he keeps coming back.”
Head called The Observer Friday afternoon and asked for a post requesting anyone who was harassed by Foster to contact them. In a Facebook post Monday morning, he said the department was “flooded with calls with sightings,” from all over Elmore County and Montgomery.
Head stressed Foster “has not committed any type of crime” for which police were seeking him “at this point.”
But he had heard of prior murder charges in Tallassee, and said he “could certainly see why they were so up in arms.”
“But the department only wants to talk with him about his recent (activities) within the city of Eclectic,” Head said.
