These days mark a couple of significant anniversaries in United States – make that world – history.
Governor Kay Ivey, along with Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth, Senate President Pro Tem Greg Reed (R-Jasper), House Speaker Nathaniel Ledbetter (R-Rainsville), Senate Minority Leader Bobby Singleton (D-Greensboro) and House Minority Leader Anthony Daniels (D-Huntsville) today unveiled “Working for Alabama.” The ambitious package of reforms is designed to strengthen Alabama’s workforce, economic and community development efforts.
Over the last several weeks, it feels as if grief has consumed me. It quite literally made me sick. It caused fights in my household, it brought on endless tears that continue every day.
There’s a stigma associated with bad news. I get it. In an ideal world there would be nothing but good news oozing from the atmosphere. Unfortunately, the last time I checked, utopia is not real and that leaves us with two options. We can blindly assume all is perfect with the world and hope for the best, or we can know the challenges we face and work together to be better. There’s more work to the latter but the rewards of enlightenment and progress are astounding.
