The Stanhope Elmore and Wetumpka rivalry could not be at a higher volume of intensity after another incredible double header of hoops in Wetumpka on Friday night.
The Wetumpka girl’s basketball team played their best game of the season, defeating Stanhope Elmore by a score of 49-35.
Wetumpka’s impressive four quarter effort was induced off of another double-double performance from Logan Banks who finished with 12 points and 17 rebounds. Aaliyah Humphrey and Mya Richardson also entered the realm of double digits. Humphrey finished with 16 points scored and Richardson with 12 points.
Stanhope Elmore competed well and did not make anything easy for Wetumpka all night. The Mustangs saw their eighth grade superstar, Kuraji Crosby, score 14 points to go with 10 rebounds on the night. Kurja Crosby distributed the ball well as she finished with 6 assists.
The Wetumpka boys basketball team showcased a newly activated roster, ultimately beating the uber talented Mustangs in a barn burner game with a score of 62-54.
Andrew Voyles capped off an incredible performance with 20 points and six rebounds after playing almost 30 minutes for the Indians. Nolan Fitch and Tom Suddith were also productive for Wetumpka as Fitch finished with 18 points and five rebounds on a 67% night from field goal range. Suddith continued to be dominant around the rim, finishing with eight points, 13 rebounds and six blocks. Stanhope Elmore remained steady throughout the entire game, never trailing by more than 10 points. Stanhope’s superstar, Terrance Collins, had 18 points and 11 rebounds in another impressive performance. Kaleb Sandsers provided much value in both the points and assists categories, as he finished with 14 points and 7 assists.
