The Lady Mustangs protected their house on Thursday night with an impressive showing as they defeated Chilton County, 52-22.
“We found our intensity once we settled in and let all of the nerves exit… I’m super proud of them just giving me their best and we are on our way to finding our identity,” coach Kelvin Stokes said.
Displaying multiple ways to score, the Lady Mustangs saw loads of production via Kaleiah Hollis. Serving as a stretch forward, Hollis finished her night with 10 rebounds to pair with her 3 steals. Stokes proved he was not afraid of exercising his depth. Despite the first two minutes of the game, the Mustangs commanded a secure lead in large part due to the dual scoring tandem of Ariel Gilchrist and Kelbi Johnson. Gilchrist boasted an ability to be productive on the defensive attack with a handful of forced turnovers. Johnson was lightning in a bottle scoring 12 off the bench.
