Tallassee’s girls basketball team played one of their better games of the season tonight against Stanhope Elmore, but the Mustangs remained steady en route to a win over the Tigers, 48-47.
It was the Aniya Burton show tonight as she scored a team high 22 points, and also grabbed 5 rebounds for the Mustangs. Summiyah Gilmore was very active on the defensive end with 4 steals.
Tallassee’s Jhakia Anderson led the way in scoring for the Tigers as she racked up 11 points. Kam Tate also played very well on both ends of the floor as she would finish with 10 points and 3 steals.
The Stanhope Elmore boys hosted the Tallassee boy’s basketball team in a lopsided result in favor of the Mustangs, 78-57.
Terrance Collins continued to stay hot as he added 26 of his own points to the Mustang’s total. Kaleb Sanders also lit up the rim with 19 points and 4 assists.
Rowen Thornton was green from everywhere for Tallassee as he finished with a season high, 35 points tonight. Thornton was the only player to score in double digits for th Tigers. Along with his major point production, Thornton also snagged 8 rebounds impressively staying out of foul trouble the whole game.
